PAPER - I


Foundations of Psychology

1. Introduction:
Definition of Psychology; Historical ante-cedents of Psychology and trends in the
21stcentury; Psychology and scientific

social sciences and natural sciences; Ap-plication of Psychology to societal prob-lems.

2. Methods of Psychology:
Types of research: Descriptive, evaluative,
diagnostic and prognostic; Methods of
Research: Survey, observation, case-study
and experiments; Characteristics of experi-mental design and non-experimental de-sign, Quasi-experimental designs; Fo-cussed group discussions, brain storming,
grounded theory approach.
